CCDC also holds recognition as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Surveillance, Capacity Building and Translational Research in Cardio-metabolic diseases and is an ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence.
Project Brief: Centre for Chronic Disease Control is seeking a proactive and experienced Research Manager to lead the operational delivery of a large, multi-state public health research project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), UK. The project, to be implemented across 10 Indian states, will involve working with partners in India and the UK.
Job Description
The Project Manager will be based in Delhi NCR and will manage diverse teams across multiple states and liaising with both Indian and UK-based partners. The successful candidate will bring strong project management experience.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to
Project Management & Coordination
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of all research activities across 10 states, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with the India- and UK-based partners.
- Maintain oversight of contracts, sub-grants and partnership agreements, ensuring compliance with institutional and funder policies.
Operational and Team Leadership
- Supervise and support a large interdisciplinary team including field coordinators, data collectors, research associates, and administrative staff across multiple states.
- Organize training, quality assurance visits and team meetings to ensure high performance and consistent research standards.
Governance and Ethical Compliance
- Ensure adherence to NIHR research governance policies, Indian regulatory requirements and institutional ethics approvals.
- Manage all research ethics submissions via CCDC IEC portal and ensure compliance with data protection protocols.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Lead the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual progress reports, financial statements and other reporting documents.
- Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for tracking project outputs and outcomes.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Essential:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Management, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Research, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience managing complex, multi-site public health research projects in India, preferably with international donors (e.g., NIHR, Wellcome Trust, NIH).
- Proven ability to manage diverse teams, budgets and logistics across geographies.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written); proficiency in Hindi or other regional languages is an asset.
Desirable:
- Experience working with UK-based academic/research partners and reporting to international funders.
Reporting:
- Reporting to the Principal Investigator
