Organization Profile: Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC) is a not-for-profit research organization that generates and translates evidence to prevent and control non-communicable (chronic) diseases in diverse low- and middle-income settings. CCDC is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is also a WHO Collaborating Centre for Surveillance, Capacity Building and Translational Research in cardio-metabolic diseases and an ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence.
Project Brief: The project titled “Improving Patient Outcomes with Multimorbidity in Primary Health Care Settings in India” aims to assess and strengthen the capacity of India’s primary health care system to manage multimorbidity across urban, rural, and tribal settings in Andhra Pradesh, Sonipat, Meghalaya, and Jodhpur. The study will evaluate infrastructure, staffing, service delivery, and digital health readiness across 43 PHCs, along with stakeholder perspectives on operational challenges and patient care. Using mixed-methods approaches, the project will identify gaps, support evidence-based interventions, and inform strategies to improve the quality of care and health outcomes for individuals with multimorbidity in India over a three-year period.
Job Description
The Project Research Scientist I (non-medical) will support the coordination and implementation of a multicentric research project on multimorbidity in primary health care settings. The role includes the development of study tools, data management, systematic reviews, qualitative and quantitative analyses, monitoring and evaluation, report writing, and manuscript preparation in coordination with investigators and field teams. The role also involves travel to study sites for project implementation and monitoring activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct systematic literature reviews on multimorbidity and primary health care interventions.
- Develop search strategies and screen studies using Covidence and Rayyan.
- Perform data extraction, quality appraisal, and evidence synthesis.
- Coordinate with investigators on the interpretation and dissemination of findings.
- Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the project across study sites.
- Develop study tools and data collection instruments.
- Coordinate administrative, institutional, and ethical approvals.
- Manage project data and maintain study documentation.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Generate themes from qualitative data and support the interpretation of findings.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and scientific manuscripts.
- Liaise with investigators, government stakeholders, and collaborating institutions.
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by the reporting manager.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Post Graduate Degree in Public Health / Epidemiology /Biostatistics/Pharm D from a recognized university with relevant research experience.
Essential Experience and Skills
- 3 to 4 years of experience in experience in systematic reviews, PRISMA guidelines, literature databases, and scientific writing
- Experience in literature searches using PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane Library.
- Experience in using Covidence and Rayyan for screening and review management.
- Skills in conducting IDIs, FGDs, and developing interview guides.
- Knowledge of qualitative analysis software such as NVivo and Atlas.ti.
- Willingness to travel to field sites, as required
Desirable
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Hindi
- Experience in protocol development and registration (e.g., PROSPERO).
- Experience working in resource-constrained settings or government health systems
- Familiarity with mixed-methods research approaches
