Project Brief:
Centre for Chronic Disease Control is seeking a proactive and experienced qualitative researcher to lead the formative research, co-design and qualitative evaluation of an intervention to address chronic diseases. The project will be implemented across various states in India and will involve working with partners in India and the UK. This research project is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), UK.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Qualitative Researcher to join a large, multi-disciplinary NIHR-funded research project. The successful candidate will lead the qualitative components of the study, with a strong emphasis on co-design methodologies for intervention development, its implementation and evaluation. S/he will work closely with patients and their caregivers, frontline health workers, medical officers, health system officials and other important stakeholders to co-design the intervention and develop community engagement and involvement strategies. S/he will also contribute to the qualitative evaluation of the intervention.
- Qualitative Data Collection & Analysis
- Design and conduct interviews, focus groups, observations, and workshops with diverse stakeholders.
- Apply robust qualitative analytical frameworks such as thematic analysis, framework analysis or realist evaluation approaches.
- Co-Design
- Facilitate collaborative co-design activities with stakeholders.
- Develop tools and processes that ensure inclusivity and meaningful engagement.
- Synthesize findings of the co-design workshops to inform intervention development.
- Community Engagement and Involvement
- Develop CEI strategies for various stakeholders.
- Build capacity of stakeholders in meaningfully participating in various CEI activities.
- Evaluate CEI activities and refine the strategies based on the feedback.
- Intervention Implementation & Evaluation
- Support the design, adaptation, and delivery of evidence-informed interventions in real-world contexts.
- Contribute to process evaluation of the intervention with a specific focus in assessing implementation outcomes (e.g., acceptability, feasibility, fidelity, etc.) and context-specific barriers and facilitators.
- Project Management & Collaboration
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with various partners and CCDC staff.
- Contribute to project management tasks including ethics approvals, data management, progress reporting, and dissemination activities.
- Knowledge Exchange & Dissemination
- Present findings in academic, policy, and community settings.
- Co-author peer-reviewed publications, briefings, and accessible outputs for non-academic audiences.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Competencies / Skill sets required:
Essential:
1) Education: Postgraduate qualification in public health, social sciences, health services research, implementation science, or related discipline with training in qualitative research methods.
2) Experience: Strong track record of conducting and publishing qualitative health or social care research. Demonstrated experience with co-design, patient and public involvement (PPI), and participatory approaches. Ability to apply and explain theoretical and methodological frameworks relevant to implementation and evaluation. Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.
Desirable:
1) Experience working on NIHR-funded or other large-scale collaborative research projects.
2) Prior experience in health systems, digital health, or community-based research.
3) Strong organisational and project management skills.
4) Skills in digital/online facilitation methods for co-design and engagement.
