About 65% of Indians live in rural settings. However, data on cardiovascular disease risk factors in these groups is still limited. CCDC is striving to address this. We are exploring the link between socioeconomic status and cardiovascular disease risk factors in a large rural community in North India.
In our study of 38,457 participants, with an average age of 42.7 and 57% being women, we observed significant associations. Those with higher education, income above 15,000 INR, and more assets were less likely to use tobacco and alcohol. However, they had higher odds of obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. This highlights the impact of socioeconomic status on health risks in this rural community.
